It's quite unusual that we get to design something of this size. The built-in political stratification of our society, in combination with the evolving polarisation, really spoke to me. Our installation, or any other installation of its sort, is rare to see within architecture, which of course sparked another interest. To further prove this point, I always prefer to use organical shapes as opposed to the typical traditional forms of architecture.

What I like most about BURST YOUR BUBBLE is how interactive and politically charged it is. I personally think it is really important to keep a critical, yet neutral attitude, and to learn from others. Aside from that, it was definitely challenging to predict the future of COVID-19 and to experiment with a combination of interior architecture and other design disciplines, resulting in a futuristic piece.

The assignment gave us the opportunity to deal with problems in a creative way, resulting after COVID-19, and this all to enhance the conciousness of our society. The visitors in our installation get confronted with several opinions. Every thought teaches us to learn from eachother. Spreading awareness and the representation of political stratification is an important part of the installation.

The search for a concept with interaction, in combination with extraordinaire materials, is something I always denounce in my own projects. BURST YOUR BUBBLE offers a view on both of these. During the design process, it certainly was a challenge to involve the extensive term 'politics' in our concept. Architecture shouldn't be boring, therefore interaction and the 'fun' factor incorporated in our project is an interesting identity.

This assignment gave us the opportunity to let our creativity run free. The fact that visitors are confronted with other people with different opinions, leaves no imagination. The contrasts between innocent audiovisuals that the visitors hear in the beginning of the game, against a heavy load of opinions, other assumptions, and prejudices at the end of the game, are one of my favorite things of BURST YOUR BUBBLE.
