FROM IDEA TO UNITY

In the first quire, the design team went ahead and searched for ten images and corresponding words from several design disciplines that matched multidisciplinarity. These disciplines, varying from installation art (such as Pereda, Lupini) to classic paintings, formed the first base of our curation.

The carefully selected images inspired our team to reminisce furthermore about unusual materials and techniques outside the interior/architectural field. Ideas like these added up to a transition from thinking visually, to a more abstract way of resonating.

ANALYSIS

During the second part of the quire, the design team analysed the social and economic impact of COVID-19 in modern day society. To form one coherent piece, they used underlying research methods to create various mindmaps. Each one of these mindmaps then focussed on different social impacts of COVID-19. After the extended braindump, the design team used about three interesting topics correlating our main idea of social dilemma, 'disunity and racism'. On top of that, images of installation art, mainly depicting emotion and the broad philosophy of art, were used as inspiration for the end result.

RESULT

Various sorts of mindmaps, sketches, materials, three-dimensional models, and more, were used as a tool to create an idea. The broad design process also included well-organized columns, graphical itineraries, and mathematical diagrams. Every team member had a different approach on 'social dilemma', therefore every mindmap was constructed with alternating topics discussing disunity and racism, two topics that formed the base idea at first.

With the help of five talented young designers, all of this was poured together, and BURST YOUR BUBBLE was born. Resulting in a mind-tricking, yet universal game that could function as game an installation, a board game, and even a television program.
